DO I NEED TO USE SOCIAL MEDIA?

No, but also yes. It’s your business and your time so no one can say you *have* to do anything. Always remember that. But if fear is the only thing stopping you then you should push through that barrier.

Social media is a ‘free’ marketing resource for your glamping business; a direct link to both current and potential customers and an easy route to creating new business relationships.

It’s also the single best free way to drive traffic (traffic = potential customers) through to your website.

I STILL DON’T UNDERSTAND WHY I NEED TO USE SOCIAL MEDIA.

Without using the word strategy, you do need to think strategically about why you’re going to be using social media for your glamping business and what you want to achieve from it.

HOW MUCH TIME WILL IT TAKE ME?

WHICH SOCIAL MEDIA PLATFORMS ARE BEST FOR BEGINNERS?

In order of effectiveness, ease of use and general fuzzy enjoyment: Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, Twitter.

Start by looking at the social media platforms you are already familiar with and how you can use this as a base to get your glamping business on to social media.

Facebook:  With 2.19 billion monthly global users, most people will already have a personal Facebook account up and running.

If you’re not ready to start a Facebook business page you can use your current personal account to get involved in the glamping/camping/outdoors/small business etc Facebook groups that are already out there. If you’ve not already ventured into using Facebook Groups then there’s an exciting world of information and friends for you to explore!

Instagram: Instagram is a picture sharing platform. It’s addictive and glorious. Glamping and life outdoors is the perfect match for Instagram and it’s worth considering how ‘grammable’ your glamping site is!

Pinterest: An inspirational platform, Pinterest is proven as a hugely effective tool to drive traffic to your website.

Twitter: Fast-paced and short – only 280 characters per tweet- this takes some getting used to but is worth it for great business connections.

CAN I PANIC YET?

Still no. Stay cool and work slowly through this blog. Look at what your competitiors and brands you love are doing on social media and see how you could apply some of their techniques to your own platforms.
